Smart Grid Pilot Project Launches in Kathmandu Valley

Siddathali Energy has launched an innovative smart grid pilot project in select areas of Kathmandu Valley, demonstrating advanced grid technologies that will shape the future of Nepal's electrical infrastructure.

The pilot project covers approximately 5,000 households and 200 commercial establishments in three wards of Kathmandu Metropolitan City. The implementation includes cutting-edge technologies for grid modernization and renewable energy integration.

Key technologies being demonstrated include:

• Smart meters with two-way communication
• Automated demand response systems
• Distributed energy resource management
• Real-time grid monitoring and control
• Advanced outage management systems

The smart grid infrastructure enables better integration of rooftop solar systems and provides consumers with detailed energy usage information. Real-time pricing mechanisms encourage energy conservation during peak demand periods.
